Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is a group of 8 elected co-op members who serve the membership for a two-year term. These elected members are known as Directors.  Directors are not paid.  The Co-op is, after all, a non-profit organization.  They may, however, be reimbursed for expenses incurred in Co-op work.  A minimum of 5 directors must be present at a meeting to establish "quorum" and be able to make decisions.  Directors are elected by ballot at the Annual General Meeting and serve for a 2-year term.  Directors may not serve more than 2 terms in a row.

Once a year the Board elects a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, these are called Officers.  All Officers except the Treasurer must be Directors of the Board.

If you have people and/or problem-solving skills, if you like meeting new people and making presentations or if you have experience with co-operatives or want to learn more, you may find Member Relations to be a committee to your liking.

Social Committee
The Social Committee builds community in the Co-op by arranging social activities for its members. If you like to plan and host get-togethers, game nights, fundraisers, garage sales or any other type of social activities, you may enjoy the Social Committee.

Landscape Committee
This is a small Committee at the moment but is continuing to grow just like the things they take care of. We have a select few members that take on the responsibility of the cutting the common area lawns. This committee also takes on the job of pruning tress, and shrubs, working on common area gardens, raking leaves in the fall, organizing clean-up days in the spring.

If you enjoy getting your hands dirty and the outdoors this is the Committee for you!

Inspection Committee
This Committee plays an important role within the Co-op. We rely on them to ensure that members are keeping their units in good repair. They conduct move-out and move-in inspections as well as annual inspections.  Once they have finished with their inspection they send a report to the Co-op Co-ordinator and all necessary work that needs to be addressed to given to the appropriate person, whether that be the handy-man or the member themselves. This is Co-operative living so repairs that members can do themselves to do!

Is this the Committee that might interest you?
