Faethorne place is a housing Co-op for market rent members or subsidized members. If you looking for subsidized housing you must first apply at the Lambton County Housing Department located at 150 N. Christina Street, Sarnia. From there you name will be placed on list in order of the date you applied, unless you have special circumstances. Unfortunately the wait in long, as the need for affordable housing in Ontario and Canada continue to grows. You’ll have an opportunity to pick a few places that your interested in living, the County can assist you in making those selections.

Once you name has reached the top of the list you’ll receive a call from either the housing providers or the County saying it’s time. Approximate wait times right now are around 24 months.

The process after that is simple. We have you fill out an application and we do some background checks and then your application is passed onto our membership Committee. They will contact you to arrange an interview with a few existing members of the Co-op. They will ask you some basic questions about your commitment to living in a Co-operative. If they think you fit the bill you’ll be approved for membership.

Once on Subsidy your housing charge is calculated based on your income…..if your on OW we have a housing charge scale for that,  and if your on ODSP we have a scale for that as well. All of these are designed to make it more affordable for you.
